Our 8-application fertilization and weed control program is a year-round lawn care regimen designed to nourish your grass while controlling weeds at different stages of the growing season. Here’s a breakdown of the typical steps involved in the program:
- Early Spring (Application 1) – Pre-Emergent & Fertilizer
Apply a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weed seeds from germinating, especially crabgrass. Fertilizer is also applied to give the lawn an early nutrient boost as it comes out of dormancy. - Late Spring (Application 2) – Weed Control & Fertilizer
Apply a broadleaf weed control product to eliminate any early-growing weeds like dandelions. Fertilizer continues to support grass growth and strengthen the lawn. - Early Summer (Application 3) – Fertilizer
This application focuses on feeding the lawn with a balanced fertilizer to support healthy growth during the warm season. No weed control may be needed if the pre-emergent was effective. - Mid-Summer (Application 4) – Weed Control & Fertilizer
Another round of broadleaf weed control is applied to tackle any persistent or new weeds. Fertilizer helps the lawn endure heat stress and maintain green color. - Late Summer (Application 5) – Fertilizer
Fertilizer is applied to promote sustained growth and recovery from summer stress (like heat or drought). This keeps the lawn thick and green as the growing season continues. - Early Fall (Application 6) – Fertilizer & Weed Control
A final broadleaf weed control application helps eliminate any late-season weeds, while fertilizer prepares the lawn for cooler weather by promoting strong root growth. - Mid-Fall (Application 7) – Fertilizer
This fertilizer application focuses on building up energy reserves in the grass to help it survive winter and green up quickly in the spring. - Late Fall/Winter (Application 8) – Winterizer Fertilizer
The last application is typically a “winterizer” fertilizer that boosts root development and helps the lawn survive the winter. This application sets the stage for a healthy start next spring.
Each step in the program is timed to coincide with the lawn’s needs during different parts of the growing season, ensuring that the grass remains healthy and weed-free year-round.
